2022 Superintendent Search
The Morrow County School District Board of Directors, with the assistance of the Oregon School Board Association, is nearing the end of the search that began in December to hire a superintendent to follow Mr. Dirksen as he retires July 1, 2022. The District received 13 applications from candidates throughout the country.
During its special meetings held March 1 – 3, the Board interviewed six semi-finalists along with a screening committee of over 20 educators, administrators and community members. The Board would like to thank the committee for their time, participation and their valuable feedback.
Following the interviews on March 3, the Board deliberated and invited three finalists to spend a day in the District followed by final interviews, on a date to be determined at their special meeting on Monday, March 7, 2022.
The finalists are:
Chester Bradshaw—Presently the Superintendent of the Sugar Salem School District in Sugar City, Idaho for the past four years. Previously, he served as the Superintendent in the Rockland, Idaho School District. Bradshaw has an Education Specialist degree from Idaho State University.
Mathew Combe—Director of Maintenance and Facilities and high school Principal in Morrow County School District. Prior to coming to Morrow County, Combe served as a Regional Alternative Education Coordinator with the Union Baker Education Service District. He has his Master’s Degree from Eastern Oregon University.
Jose Silva—Presently a Principal with the Clark County School District in Nevada. Prior to his principalship he served as an assistant principal and teacher in Clark County. He has a Doctorate in Education from Argosy University and a Master’s in Education degree from Sierra Nevada College.
The day in the District will include a student forum, school and community tours, and meet and greet with school staff and community members, followed by final interviews with the Board. Following deliberations, the Board will announce its selection for the 2022 – 2023 superintendent position.
